Week 14 Blog Post

Which part of your drama techniques integrated story book activity went well and which part needs more improvement?  I honestly thought my group did not do too bad since it was only two of us and we were missing two other group members. The book we had was "The Paper Bag Princess" and I think it was honestly a really good book choice for this project. The book had multiple opportunities to use different drama techniques throughout the book. I think all of our techniques went well but there was two that needed little work. Narrative pantomime; it went well and would be easy enough for young students to follow but I can tell it needed a little more prep work before I read that page. Person in a mess is the other one and I think that's just because we got a little mixed up with another one and people did not interact as much as the other techniques. I think the best drama technique we used for the book was person in a hot seat; I acted as I was the princess and had the class...

Week 12 Reflection

For week 12 I learned about creative drama and how it can be used in the classroom. In class we learned about the different drama techniques and how they can be used in the class; we also got a demonstration in class when Dr.Won read a book and used creative drama. I think 'person in a mess' is my favorite way to engage students because it is fun for the kinds and encourages them to use critical thinking or how to solve the problem.  I think using drama techniques as a teaching tool would be such a creative and cool way to engage the children. I think it gives kids a new way to learn, it can help them stay focus and may even help them remember what we are talking about during class.  Like I wrote right above I think it can affect children's learning in a positive way. I think this fun and different way of learning can keep students engaged longer and have them pay attention more. With students paying attention more I think this way of learning may help students retain in...

Week 10 reflection

I really enjoyed this assignment as I have never used any sort of AI before hand. This week in class really opened my eyes to a whole different world in not just education but this can be used everywhere. I have heard of AI and kind of knew what it was but I never knew any specific websites or anything like that. I really never even heard of a drawing AI simulator like Dall.e2. This class was super interesting to me and I really liked the assignment we did along with it; it helped bring a clearer understanding to me about AI and I think it helped a lot of other students.   I really liked using AI to create a story because it is super fast and I think in my personal experience the stories aren't terrible. But I think if it wasn't just like a short, small thing we were doing I would rather write my own so I have creative control over the whole thing. With AI I can change it if I want little so it's more how I envisioned it but it still is not the same as writing it myself an...

Week 7 Reflection

In class Monday my group did our little report on Bob Ross. But Wednesday is when the real fun started when we started our parody art. My parody art is based on "A Starry Night" and I changed it by just taking out the building and adding a green hill where animals are looking at the sky. All you see is the back of cats, dogs and a few rabbits looking over something similar to the orginal painting. I could only do my sketch the first day and start painting the grass so I get to finish the sky and the animals Monday.  Some ways to redesign this project I think the simplest is to pick an artist and then people would create a parody of one of that artists piece of art. It could make it little more challenging  and can give the opportunity for people to learn more about that artist.  The activities this week made my week better. It was a fun activity and allowed me to learn more about artists and their artwork. I always color as a was to destress so to actually do it in ...

Week 6 Reflection

So I really love this weeks activity it made me feel like a kid. I think I should have planned ahead because I had no idea what to make so I just make little snowman looking people with faces and cereal hats. It took me quite a while to figure out what to make, how to make it and to actually put it all together took me a majority of the class.  I think with help kids in some of their fine motor skills while putting together their food art. Using those fine motor skills to put icing on the food, draw faces or just small details into their own art. I think it can also help children with critical thinking. Kids need to think about what they want to build and how to do it; this may involve trial and error to figure out what works best for their vision.  You can incorporate this in so many different subjects. One that I think is super cute is if you give kids like circular objects ,like fruits or crackers, then the students can color them and make them look like different pl...

Week 5 Reflection

The concept mostly discussed in class this week was all about how dance and movement can be beneficial in the classroom. If you look at the picture I took during class it shows the three different types of dance/movement that you can do with children. I think my favorite would be locomotor kids of dance because it allows kids to move all around but that may be hard in a classroom so non-locomotor dancing might be easiest. In class we watched videos and danced and then we made our own moves to a song and learned Dr.Won's dance moves as well. In class another example of movement was a freeze dance activity where some students were dinosaurs and a video played with ideas for how the kids to dance but you could always just let the kids freestyle.  I think these activities can really help kids with their development. This can help kids physically develop and I think it can help kids socially. Obviously this involves a lot of movement and maybe allows kids to move in ways they may...

Week 4 Reflection

This project and creative concept was super interesting and I think kids would really like it. We listened to the story in class where they had the kids interact with the story then we had the opportunity to draw some of the story. I choose to draw the main character up by his home then put all the obstacles he faced in the story in order and then have his cow that he was looking for at the end.  I think a way this could be incorporated into other curriculums by the story that goes along. When learning about different environments in science class the kids can draw some of the different ones they hear about in the story. Or when talking about planets then each kid can draw out the solar system or they can draw whatever planet sounds the coolest to them. These are just some easy ways to put into other subjects but there are so many other ways to incorporate it in interesting ways! Today's activity affected me in a good way. Just the day before this class was the three month a...
