For week 12 I learned about creative drama and how it can be used in the classroom. In class we learned about the different drama techniques and how they can be used in the class; we also got a demonstration in class when Dr.Won read a book and used creative drama. I think 'person in a mess' is my favorite way to engage students because it is fun for the kinds and encourages them to use critical thinking or how to solve the problem.
I think using drama techniques as a teaching tool would be such a creative and cool way to engage the children. I think it gives kids a new way to learn, it can help them stay focus and may even help them remember what we are talking about during class.
Like I wrote right above I think it can affect children's learning in a positive way. I think this fun and different way of learning can keep students engaged longer and have them pay attention more. With students paying attention more I think this way of learning may help students retain information more quickly because it is such a fun lesson that it sticks in their mind.
I think a creative drama lesson can be super interesting to do during a history lesson. Students can act out a certain moment in history or they can all act as different people throughout history. I think this may also be a good lesson to do the 'hot seat' in creative drama. We can have one student be a person in history and the students can ask them all questions about history during when this person was alive and questions just about the person they are portraying.
