Week 6 Reflection

So I really love this weeks activity it made me feel like a kid. I think I should have planned ahead because I had no idea what to make so I just make little snowman looking people with faces and cereal hats. It took me quite a while to figure out what to make, how to make it and to actually put it all together took me a majority of the class.  I think with help kids in some of their fine motor skills while putting together their food art. Using those fine motor skills to put icing on the food, draw faces or just small details into their own art. I think it can also help children with critical thinking. Kids need to think about what they want to build and how to do it; this may involve trial and error to figure out what works best for their vision.  You can incorporate this in so many different subjects. One that I think is super cute is if you give kids like circular objects ,like fruits or crackers, then the students can color them and make them look like different pl...

Week 5 Reflection

The concept mostly discussed in class this week was all about how dance and movement can be beneficial in the classroom. If you look at the picture I took during class it shows the three different types of dance/movement that you can do with children. I think my favorite would be locomotor kids of dance because it allows kids to move all around but that may be hard in a classroom so non-locomotor dancing might be easiest. In class we watched videos and danced and then we made our own moves to a song and learned Dr.Won's dance moves as well. In class another example of movement was a freeze dance activity where some students were dinosaurs and a video played with ideas for how the kids to dance but you could always just let the kids freestyle.  I think these activities can really help kids with their development. This can help kids physically develop and I think it can help kids socially. Obviously this involves a lot of movement and maybe allows kids to move in ways they may...

Week 4 Reflection

This project and creative concept was super interesting and I think kids would really like it. We listened to the story in class where they had the kids interact with the story then we had the opportunity to draw some of the story. I choose to draw the main character up by his home then put all the obstacles he faced in the story in order and then have his cow that he was looking for at the end.  I think a way this could be incorporated into other curriculums by the story that goes along. When learning about different environments in science class the kids can draw some of the different ones they hear about in the story. Or when talking about planets then each kid can draw out the solar system or they can draw whatever planet sounds the coolest to them. These are just some easy ways to put into other subjects but there are so many other ways to incorporate it in interesting ways! Today's activity affected me in a good way. Just the day before this class was the three month a...

Week 3 Reflection

When talking about concepts during this week one term/phrase really stood out to me which is social-emotional learning. S ocial-emotional learning is the process of developing self awareness, social awareness, self manag ement and responsible decision making skills which are all super helpful things kids will need to succeed in not only school but as well as in life. I find this concept to be interesting because it literally is the development of yourself as you grow up and work on so many positive things.  My mindfulness rock was just to draw what you wanted while listening to music. I was listening to the music when painting this rock and SRU just popped in my head. Next was the motivational rock where we put words or phrases to motivate ; I always say yay no matter the context so I figured that would be perfect for me to put. Next was the super power rock I painted in class. The task was to paint a rock that had super powers or could give you super powers which I thought ...
